Preparing for Your Move - Hints and Tips

Allow us to help make your move as effortless and hassle-free as possible by following a few simple suggestions.

  • Please keep all entrances and access routes as clear and uncluttered as possible.

  • Ensure that all electrical appliances are unplugged before moving day.

  • Refrigerators and freezers should be completely emptied and, where possible, defrosted in advance.

  • We advise that washing machines or dishwashers are disconnected before our team arrives.

  • All fragile items, including china, glassware and ornaments, should be carefully packed into suitable boxes to help prevent damage. If you would prefer, we also offer a professional Packing Service upon request.

  • Please label each box with both the room destination and a brief description of its contents. This will help our team place everything in the correct rooms within your new home.

  • Pictures, mirrors and other glass items should be boxed where possible or protected with bubble wrap or other suitable packing materials. Please mark these items clearly as 'Fragile' and indicate 'Heavy' where appropriate.

  • All beds should be stripped of bedding and dismantled before moving day, including bunk beds and cabin beds, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed with our surveyor or estimator.

  • Please ensure there is clear access for the removal vehicle. Where possible, move vehicles from the driveway and help keep the road outside your property free from obstructions.

  • Where practical, please empty drawers to reduce unnecessary weight and minimise the risk of damage during transportation. This also helps us comply with our insurance requirements, details of which will be provided to you.

  • Please ensure that pets are kept safely secured and are not allowed to roam freely on moving day.

  • To help the removal process run as efficiently as possible, we recommend limiting visits from friends and family during the move where practical.

  • If you have items stored in the garage that can be packed into boxes, we recommend doing so in advance. Larger items such as shovels, spades and garden tools can usually be loaded safely as they are.

Please don't let these guidelines overwhelm you—they are simply intended to help make your moving day as smooth, efficient and stress-free as possible.
